HOW TO SET THE MOOD FOR ROMANCE
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with someone else or not, confidence is sexy! When you’re feeling good about yourself your beauty shines from the inside out, and your heart is open to new experiences. The first thing to do to set the mood for your Valentine’s Day celebration is to take the time to treat yourself. Try a new skin care routine that leaves you glowing, do your favorite yoga flow, or just dance around to your favorite songs. Essential oils have been used in skin care since they’ve been around (which is a seriously long time.) Making your own essential oil face serum is a simple ritual to show yourself some TLC and take care of your skin. Before you try any of these recipes, remember to do a small skin patch test to check for allergies. It’s a good rule of thumb to do this any time you’re using new essential oils or carrier oils for the first time. While a natural oil may be considered very gentle, everyone’s body is unique.

Set the Mood of the Space with Lighting
Ambiance is everything, and lighting has a huge impact on any space. Firstly, ditch any bright fluorescent lighting. Not only is fluorescent lighting harsh and unflattering, but it also feels cold and impersonal. Soft lighting is more flattering and makes a space feel cozy and intimate. Candles are always a great choice to warm up a room. If you’re concerned open flames or need a little more light, a Himalayan salt lamp is also a romantic choice. Himalayan salt lamps are gorgeous natural crystal, plus they have a warm inviting glow that’s soothing and romantic. The fire and earth elements represented in a Himalayan salt lamp encourage passion, warmth and harmony..
No, Really: Set. The. Mood.Lighting is a great first step, but don’t underestimate the power of scent to set the scene for romance. Aromatherapy candles and diffusing essential oils can totally change the feel and energy of a space. Exploring different essential oil aromas with your partner is a fun way to get to know each other’s likes and dislikes. You can even create a unique diffuser blend for just the two of you. Science has also discovered that smell and memory are very closely linked. Diffusing your partner’s favorite essential oils or blends you create together can be a powerful reminder of your love. For maximum romance, you can always diffuse the sexiest of all essential oils: lavender. Lavender flowers and essential oils have a long tradition as a symbol of love and lust, dating all the way back to ancient Egypt and Cleopatra (of course). But it’s not all history and lore. Modern research also suggests lavender essential oil is the most sexually arousing scent. Literally. A study by neurosurgeons determined lavender scents actually have physically measurable effects on male sexual response. So not only is lavender super relaxing, but it turns out it’s a real-life aphrodisiac.
Relax and Have FunWhen you’re creating a space for connection and closeness, the only tension you should be feeling is the sexual kind. Don’t let stress and anxiousness stick around like uninvited guests. Essential oil aromatherapy is a fantastic way to relax. You may even be already using essential oils to relax and unwind in your daily routine. Essential oil spa treatments can help you and your partner relax together. Drawing a bath with soothing bath bombs and natural body scrubs feels luxurious and sensuous, while also having the added benefit of relaxing the body. Following up with a massage continues the relaxation and just plain feels good! Using nourishing carrier oils like jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil or rosehip oil for massage not only feels good, but leave skin feeling soft and oh-so-touchable.
Make it SpecialCarrier oils are ideal for massage because they’re so good for skin, but you can also add essential oils for a custom aromatherapy experience. You can use your partner’s favorite essential oils, and of course lavender essential oil for maximum seduction. When it comes to romance and love, rosemary essential oil is another one of our favorite essential oils to use in blends and recipes. Closely associated with the heart chakra, rosemary essential oil can be used in aromatherapy to encourage feelings of openness and compassion.
